Trip Cancellation Policy

Welcome, please pay special attention and read all the terms & conditions, and cancellation policy below before purchasing your Aurora Backcountry Trip.

Please read these terms and conditions (“Terms”) carefully. These Terms (in their entirety) constitute a binding agreement between you and 1567235 Alberta Ltd, doing business as Aurora Backcountry, including its subsidiaries and affiliates (“Aurora Backcountry Pass”, “we” or “us”). By purchasing an Aurora Backcountry trip or other service, you are agreeing to be bound by these Terms.

TERMS

 

  1. Guide Operations. Aurora Backcountry has the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to operate its guiding program in the manner it deems appropriate in its sole and exclusive judgment. Aurora Backcountry’s right to operate in the manner it deems appropriate includes, but is not limited to, the right to modify or cancel any program or service without reason or notice. AURORA BACKCOUNTRY GUIDES RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CANCEL ANY DAY AT ANY TIME IF THE GUIDE DEEMS THE RISK OF INJURY OR DEATH IS TOO GREAT TO MANAGE. This can happen at any time during the day or even the morning of the trip. Aurora Backcountry does not take responsibility of any expenses the guest may have incurred before or after the cancellation. 
     

  2. No Guarantee. AURORA BACKCOUNTRY DOES NOT MAKE ANY GUARANTEES WITH RESPECT TO ITS TRIPS, OR OTHER SERVICES FROM SEPARATE PROVIDERS THAT AURORA BACKCOUNTRY ACTED AS A SALES AGENT FOR. For example, your purchase of any Aurora Backcountry Trip, OR your offering with a company that Aurora Backcountry acted as the sales agent for, does not guarantee:​

    • Any particular guest experience or your satisfaction with your guest experience at or with any Trip Location, Service, or Guided Trip; or  

    • Your admission to any trip, or package, which is subject to, among other things, capacity constraints based on guest to guide ratio and minimum number of guests required to operate.
       

  3. Release of Liability, Assumption of Risks, and Indemnity Agreement. All participants of any Aurora Backcountry trip or service are required to agree, to sign, and be bound by the Release of Liability, Assumption of Risks and Indemnity Agreement. If you do not sign and accept the Release of Liability, Assumption of Risks and Indemnity Agreement, your Aurora Backcountry Trip, or Service will not be valid and you will not be able to attend any guided trip. You will not be eligible for a refund based on any failure or refusal to sign the Release of Liability, Assumption of Risks and Indemnity Agreement.
     

  4. Participation Agreement. At the time of your purchase, you will be required to carefully read, agree, and sign, the Aurora Backcountry Pass Participation Agreement. If you do not agree to the participation agreement then you will not be allowed to participate in any Aurora Backcountry trip or service. Furthermore, ANY PARTICIPANT, including those who did not make the initial booking, those who take the place of a guest who made the booking and decided no to attend, or those who show up last minute without making without making Aurora Backcountry aware, will need to fill out a participation agreement,
     

  5. Cancellation Policy. Aurora Backcountry is strict with enforcing its cancellation policy. All payments are conditionally non-refundable. We highly recommend purchasing trip cancellation insurance to protect your investment. Please read the following carefully.

    • All trips must be secured by deposit or full payment. Full payment is due 10 weeks before the trip start date. If your initial booking is less than 10 weeks before your start date then full payment is required to secure your booking.

    • All cancellations must be received in writing by email.

    • If notice is received LESS THAN 10 weeks prior to the starting date, no money will be refunded.

    • If you need to cancel your trip MORE THAN 10 weeks before the start date your deposit becomes forfeit. However, here are 2 scenarios where you many not lose your deposit.

      1. We can transfer your trip to a later date within the same season, if it is available.

      2. If your trip gets sold to another person​​ at full price...

        • Your deposit may be refunded back to you​ minus a 5% admin fee. 

        • 100% of your deposit may be used to book another trip with Aurora Backcountry for the following season. Deposits will become forfeit if not used within 1 year of May 15th.​

    • THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS GIVEN DUE TO INJURY, SICKNESS, OR PERSONAL REASONS.

    • THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS GIVEN TO GUESTS THAT; DO NOT SHOW, FORGET TO CANCEL, SHOW LATE, OR LEAVE EARLY.

    • THERE ARE NO REFUNDS DUE TO LACK OF ABILITY OR FITNESS
       

  6. Minimum and maximum attendances. A minimum number of people are required to be signed up for a trip in order for the trip to run. If less than the minimum have signed up, Aurora Backcountry will fill the remaining seats any way they can. This may result in a heavily discounted trip being advertised. This does not give the current guests who are already signed up the right to the discounted price. 
     

  7. Acts of God. If the season is cancelled for any catastrophic reason NO REFUNDS will be issued. Examples of catastrophic reasons a season or a day could be cancelled include, but are not limited to: Lack of snow, Government Lockdowns, Backcountry Closures, War, Highway or road closures, Terrorism, Covid-19 or any Pandemic, Earthquake, Meteor Strike, or any natural disaster, etc. Trip Cancellation Insurance is HIGHLY recommended for these scenarios. 
     

  8. Avalanche Safety Training requirement. All Guests will be required to complete a basic Avalanche Safety Briefing the morning of day 1 of their trip. If an individual cannot attend this briefing, then they will be required to have a one-on-one briefing with their Guide before their attend. If a guest choses to not participate in this safety briefing then they will not be allowed to participate in the Aurora Backcountry service.
     

  9. Heli Assist Ski Touring. To secure your Heli Assist Ski Touring Upgrade you must pay in full the amount owed for the day. HELI ASSISTED SKI TOURING CAN NOT BE CANCELLED AND IS NON-REFUNDABLE unless Aurora Backcountry cancels the day in which a full refund or credit will be issued.
     

  10. All guests must have the appropriate equipment. Lack of proper equipment does not warrant last minute cancellations or refunds. There will be NO REFUND due to guests showing up with inappropriate, defective, or lack of required equipment. It is the guests responsibility to have available all equipment listed on the equipment list. This equipment list is available on all the Aurora Backcountry info packages and a link within the participation agreement.
     

  11. If Aurora Backcountry Cancels the trip for whatever reason a full refund will be issued.
