About this trip
The famous powder highway located in the Monashee and Kootenay mountain ranges of western Canada. You have probably heard people talk about this highway to powder heaven and have dreamt of one day traveling it. Well, dream no longer because it's right here waiting for you.
The Powder Highway is the southern route across western Canada. We start our journey in Kelowna where we then road trip to the towns of Revelstoke, Nelson, Fernie, and finally finishing in Calgary. This trip is designed for intermediate to advanced backcountry ski tourers and split borders. We spend 10 days experiencing some of the best ski destinations in Canada across 4 mountain ranges. In addition to a diverse geography the route is also rich with Canadian history from the first days of discovery and resource development. We will pass through old mining towns, and even visit the famous Frank Slide of 1903 where half a mountain collapsed and buried an entire town. Our evenings we will enjoy meals from local restaurants and sample locally brewed beers from the many micro breweries that we pass along the way. Depending on weather and conditions we can even include a heliski day or a catski day for an extra cost.
About the Guides
All our Guides are certified by the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides (ACMG) or equivalent associations internationally recognized through the IFMGA. Their rigorous training in avalanche safety, navigation, risk management, and client care ensures your backcountry adventure is safe, personalized, and unforgettable.
When are the best conditions?
Late February and early March are the best times to ski from these epic ski towns because the snow is cold, dry, fluffy, and there is lots of it! This is the tree skiing, deep powder paradise you've always wanted to experience. Classic Canadian skiing, period.
The Terrain
The Powder Highway winds through the Monashee and Kootenay mountain ranges, linking the iconic ski towns of Revelstoke, Nelson, and Fernie across four distinct mountain ranges. The terrain is designed for intermediate to advanced backcountry skiers and splitboarders, with deep tree skiing and open alpine objectives offering variety at every stop. The diverse geography ensures guides can continuously find the best snow, while optional heliski or catski days are available for those wanting to go even deeper.

Itinerary
Arrival Day
Day 1
MEETING TIME & PLACE IS 2PM SUNDAY AT KELOWNA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (YLW), BAGGAGE CLAIM.

All participants are responsible for booking their own flights and must arrive at Kelowna International Airport, the day before skiing begins. Your guide will meet the group at the baggage claim and escort everyone to Revelstoke. We recommend arriving by mid-afternoon so we can complete the drive in good time and settle in before the action starts.
Emergency Preparation and Risk Management
Day 2
We’ll begin with a risk-management briefing and a comprehensive rescue training session to prepare you for the week and build strong, practical backcountry skills.
Intro ski tour in Rogers Pass to ease into the terrain and conditions
Permits are arranged as part of Glacier National Park’s avalanche management plan
Return to Revelstoke for après and dinner

DAY 3
Full ski touring day in Rogers Pass, targeting one of the area’s classic objectives
Terrain will be matched to conditions and group fitness
Option for deeper glaciated lines or tree skiing if weather turns
Return to Revelstoke for a relaxed evening

DAY 4
Morning ski tour in Rogers Pass
Wrap up early, pack up, and hit the road for Nelson
Scenic drive through the Selkirks with snack stops along the way
Arrive in Nelson, check in, and go for dinner in one of the town’s legendary spots
Whitewater Slackcountry
DAY 5
Lift-accessed ski touring at Whitewater Resort
The terrain is playful, deep, and uncrowded—perfect for soft landings and creative lines
Optional heli-assisted upgrade (based on group interest and conditions)
Après at the local hot springs or a brewery, then dinner in Nelson
Nelson Backcountry
DAY 6
Final day in Nelson—back for more touring at Whitewater or another nearby zone
Pack up mid-afternoon and drive to Fernie via Kootenay Pass
Stretch the legs with a short storm-day tree lap en route
Settle into Fernie and grab a cozy meal downtown
Fernie Backcountry
DAY 7
Big alpine touring day in Fernie—this region offers high peaks and wide-open bowls
Options for summit missions or exploring lesser-known backcountry zones
Downtime back at the lodge, followed by group dinner

DAY 8
Final ski day in the Rockies
Conditions-dependent—option for another tour or even cat skiing if pre-arranged
Afternoon drive to Calgary
Optional NHL hockey game or a big night out in the city to wrap up the trip
Departure
DAY 9
Late breakfast, gear sort, and airport drop-off around 2pm
If you’ve got a late flight, check out the city or do some last-minute shopping
