CAT SKIING AND HELI SKIING CANADA

It's Deeper Up Here!

Aurora Backcountry has chosen to partner with Northern Escape Heli Skiing, located in North Western British Columbia near the town of Terrace. Northern Escape is perfectly situated to receive the ideal precipitation / temperature combination to produce some of the deepest and driest powder in Canada. With 5,500 square kilometers of terrain for you to explore, you can be sure that you are about to have the ultimate skiing and riding experience. Ski runs often begin high in the alpine bowls and ending with tree skiing down long descents through old growth forests to the valley floor.

In addition to having the best snow, there are 4 other important reasons that we chose Northern Escape as our go to Mechanized Ski Operator. Keep reading to find out what they are!

THE TERRAIN

Northern Escape's skiable terrain is about 25% the size of the Swiss Alps, a massive 5500㎢. This is larger than all the ski resorts in Switzerland combined. Take away 99.9% of the crowds, Take away the lift line, and enjoy first tracks every run.

The terrain is perfectly situated to take advantage of every type of weather pattern. This gives you the ability to chase the good weather and good snow on any given day. For example, if it's stormy in the south, we ski the North. If it's windy in the North, we ski the West and if it's cloudy in the West then we can ski the East. These options give you the highest probability for having a successful trip.

THE NEW NORTHERN ESCAPE MOUNTAIN LODGE

Ideal for small groups and families, the New Northern Escape Mountain Lodge offers an intimate setting for up to ten ski guests.

Enjoy après ski by the wood burning fireplace or relax with an after-ski soak in the outdoor hot tub. Northern Escape Lodge offers singles rooms for all 10 guests, all with en-suite bathrooms.

Set in the quiet landscape of Canada’s Skeena Mountains on a waterfront estate of 50 acres, this remote ski lodge offers the opportunity to unplug as you wish, or stay in touch with those at home through the lodge’s wireless Internet.

THE FOOD

After a week of riding the best snow of your life and having your mind blown by spectacular mountain views, we want you to go home and talk about the food.

It sounds funny to say, however the importance of great food throughout the day is synergistic to overall experience. The Red Seal Certified Chefs and Kitchen staff are the unsung heroes of the operation. It is their passion to make sure that you remember the food just as much as the heli skiing. No one will care how good the skiing is if it food is sub-optimal, period.

CAT SKIING BACKUP

Have you ever heard the story of the family that went heli skiing only to sit in the lodge the entire week because the weather was too poor to fly? This reality is the elephant in the room that no heli skiing operation like to discuss.

We have completely eliminated this achilles heel of Heli Skiing. With 29 km2 of perfect tree skiing you can be sure that your time will be spent skiing no matter what the weather.
